Elbit Systems has won a $40 million contract to provide mini UAVs to the Israeli Defence Forces. These will almost certainly be used for surveillance in the Occupied Territories. In 2007 a Skylark crashed in the West Bank while being used by Israeli Special Forces. Elbit already supplies surveillance equipment for the Apartheid Wall and for illegal settlements in the West Bank.
The UAV involved appears to be a version of the Skylark, which is already used by the IDF and was been sold to the Australian MOD for use in Iraq. The Skylark has also been sold to Canada, France, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Netherlands, as well as Mexico, and Sweden.
